hand carved vase on a wheel thrown bottle by Artist John Kondra

Pottery by JAMD

Welcome my name is John Kondra and I am the owner and artist here at pottery by jamd. We make pottery in Dracut Massachusetts right on the New Hampshire state line. You could say we are Dracut pottery. As a local artist and potter we have spent our entire lives in and around Dracut Ma. All of our pottery is high fired, either in an electric or in a wood fired kiln. Wood fired is what gives our glazes there unique and beautiful finish. From wheel thrown pots, jars, mugs and vases to hand build pieces all of our ceramics is truly one of a kind works of art.

You will notice a lot of our work is hand carved and designed with an Asian flare. This is due to having for the last 6 years the good fortune and privilege to study under “Yary Livan” a Cambodian Master Ceramicist. Most of our pottery is High  fired to cone 10. That is in between 2284 and 2381 degrees F. All of our pottery can be considered Stone Ware, unlike the low fire earthenware found in most big box stores. Stoneware is a type of dense pottery that is fired at high temperatures. This makes it resistant to liquids. It is made from certain type or mixture of clay. That makes it more durable and much harder than other types of pottery and earthenware. Stoneware gets its name from stone-like qualities, the good stuff.

If you are interested in one of a kind pottery that is a true work of art, You found the right place. Ceramics and pottery made local in Dracut Ma. Got questions about our pottery from how it is made, formed, glazed and fired? Questions about a  potter’s wheel, kick wheel, kilns or even clay. I will gladly share the knowledge bestowed upon me and if I do not know I will lead you someone who does.

Give me a call or email. We will also custom make pottery for a special order. Pottery by Jamd is owned by a local artist and all of our art is made by local potter John Kondra right here in Dracut Ma. That's right “Dracut Pottery”, the good stuff. Real High fired Stone-Ware, Wood fired stone ware is only available on certain items. Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower.
