Pottery by JAMD
Welcome my name is John Kondra and I am the owner and artist here at pottery by jamd. We make pottery in Dracut Massachusetts right on the New Hampshire state line. You could say we are Dracut pottery. As a local artist and potter we have spent our entire lives in and around Dracut Ma. All of our pottery is high fired, either in an electric or in a wood fired kiln. Wood fired is what gives our glazes there unique and beautiful finish. From wheel thrown pots, jars, mugs and vases to hand build pieces all of our ceramics is truly one of a kind works of art.
You will notice a lot of our work is hand carved and designed with an Asian flare.
This is due to having for the last 6 years the good fortune and privilege to study
under “Yary Livan” a Cambodian Master Ceramicist. Most of our pottery is High fired
to cone 10. That is in between 2284 and 2381 degrees F. All of our pottery can be
considered Stone Ware, unlike the low fire earthenware found in most big box stores.
Stoneware is a type of dense pottery that is fired at high temperatures. This makes
it resistant to liquids. It is made from certain type or mixture of clay. That makes
it more durable and much harder than other types of pottery and earthenware. Stoneware
gets its name from stone-
